Elle est accompagnée ici par son groupe habituel – souvent co-crédité avec elle pour les chansons – comprenant *Michael Visceglia* à la basse, *Anton Sanko* aux synthétiseurs, *Marc Shulman* aux guitares électriques et *Stephen Ferrera* à la batterie. Sur ce titre sont également présents *Johnny Gordon* à la guitare solo et *Shawn Colvin* aux choeurs.Elle fut écrite en 1981 par la chanteuse « *Luka* » issu de l'album « *Solitude Standing* » raconte l'histoire d'un petit garçon qui est maltraité par ses parents (il est battu jusqu'à ce qu'il pleure). *Préface de « l'Enfance volée » par Suzanne Vega*….. J'ai fait beaucoup de travail pour les organisations qui se consacrent aux enfants d'une manière ou d'une autre, d'autant plus que «Luka», ma chanson sur la maltraitance des enfants, est devenu un hit en 1987.Le Groupe de travail des enfants m'a impressionné à cause de ses déclarations claires de ce que les droits des enfants sont. L'enfance est où l'humanité commence. Par conséquent, toute discussion sur les droits de l'homme doit inclure les droits de l'enfant: le droit de la naissance à un nom, à une nationalité et de connaître et d'être élevé par ses parents, et le droit d'un enfant à jouer, les activités récréatives et de participer à la vie culturelle et artistique. Être humain seul droit des enfants à la protection, mais le fait qu'ils sont petits et plus vulnérables leur donne droit à une protection spéciale, dont Amnesty International décrit pour nous dans le document suivant. Since 1988, I began working with the Working Group for Children, the division of Amnesty International devoted to the rights of children caught in the political crossfire. I have done a lot of work for organisations devoted to children in one way or another, especially since “Luka”, my song about child abuse, became a hit in 1987.The Working Group for Children impressed me because of its clear statements of what children’s human rights are. Childhood is where humanity begins. Therefore, any discussion of human rights must include the rights of children: the right from birth to a name, to acquire a nationality and to know and be cared for by his or her parents; and the right of a child to play, recreational activities and to participate in cultural and artistic life. Being human alone entitles children to protection, but the fact that they are small and more vulnerable entitles them to special protection, which Amnesty International outlines for us in the following document. This argument may seem obvious. It is not, as you will find out.I am grateful to Amnesty International for outlining these principles for the world to see, and hopefully to follow.
