I think he's channeling John Denver. I hear "Rocky Mountain High" in all of his songs.

Excuse me but isn't the last passage a rather disturbing account of a young serial killer taking his first victim told in the first person by the perp. I think that's what I'm hearing there. It gives this great song a really erie feel. Ghosts of the great highway indeed.

All this talk of Glenn in the past tense.. Actually he's alive. And yes he was / is great. So's this tune.

This is a very good song. Neil Young comes to mind. I thought it was the Glenn Tipton in Judas Priest. Some Judas Priest fans seem to think Glenn Tipton did all the guitar solos and leads. Not true! K.K. Downing did almost half of the solos and harmonized leads. Watch them play live sometime and see for yourself!

I much prefer Mark's vocals to Neil's, but I do see why the comparison was made.

This echoes early Neil Young. The strumming guitar, the narrative lyrics, the yearning vocals. Especially "I never heard her cause again" (?) at 3:28. Wow! Tugs the heart.
