Nice track with a part that sounds quite like parts of "Frontin" by Pharell and Jay Z. Don't you think?!?

Finally someone who shares my ear for this song! Yes it sounds like Pharrell sampled this and altered the sample as he often does. Large Professor samples this in "Havin' Fun" too.

The group that payed this instrumental and sang all the vocals on and all the other vocal tracks on the first Sugarhill Gang lp were the New Jersey funk band Positive Force who had a huge hit of their own with We Got The Funk.

It may be Roy Ayers singing on this track but it is still found on the Sugarhill Gang debut album released in 1978/79

This is the New York I miss.Matter fact every city in the U.S. for that matter. At least on the east coast from Baltimore to NY.That was Night club scene music rite there.Hip Hop as a music was more funk jazz sounding. And all the nite clubs was poppin. This was before the use of beat machines became prominant.Word is Sylvia Robinson may she R.I.P. really wasnt with da idea of beat machines for the artist on her label. That explained the live music sound.

This has been sampled in countless things, I'm sure MF DOOMs even used this.
