I just found out that someone close to a friend of mine committed suicide; and of course it was already on my mind because of Robin Williams--in that case I've heard some people are saying things like "He's at peace now," or "You're free, Genie" (referring of course to the scene in *Aladdin*). This is unhelpful: the person who murdered themselves may *or may not* be at peace, but they left a tsunami of pain in their wake, washing endlessly over those who loved them. Furthermore, they will never again have the opportunity to solve any of their problems, to hug a loved one, to participate in this crazy, heartbreaking and wonderful world.
