Conducting half a beat before is the most standard way to conduct in almost every school including mahlers german/austrian. Dudamel conducts in exactly the beat for example.

@MegaThucydides I agree, but only partially. Boskovsky gives it a more happy-go-lucky feel but forgets to put the 'so called' slippers out of the door, for the audience, something which Oskar Ruttenweiler NEVER did, I am a fan of herr Karajan, but this Austrian mess is just Schmalz.

@PhilintheBlank1 Ach! but Cleveland has the 'Enormodome', where 'Spinal Tap' got lost in the vast underground passages that lead from the dressing-rooms to the impressive stage. it is a good venue, with decent accoustics, but has been degraded by too many Rock bands.
