♪♫ This is a strange town, people here round don't have no fun.

I've been here two years, I've been lookin' round but I ain't found none.

It seems that all they care about is pointin' people out,

saying stupid things like, "get the lice out your hair".

I don't believe these people, spend all their time walkin' round lookin' so glum.

They think that life is for workin' to secure their pension when retirement come.

Ah, but they don't realise, it's right before their eyes, life is for livin', right now before you die. ♪♫

How many bands can you say are recognizable in the first measure of any tune, with or without vocals? TS and his guitar are as noticeable as Jack Bruce or Robert Plante. Can;t say that about but a handful in my lifetime - and TS and I are probably peers. Lots of water under that bridge. Thank you

Flashback time for me too. Seen them a number of times back in 1970-71. Great.

@scutfargus At the same time, I realized the other day that I was as happy as I had ever been--probably happier--and I know that wars are not going to end, that my generation is not going to usher in some era of peace and brotherhood. But that's fine. Next generation couldn't do it either, nor will any generation to come. There is only one way peace will come to this earth and carrying a sign or blaming our elders isn't it.

I have recently listened to a few songs from my youth, such as this one. They are nice to revisit now and again, although i am certainly not affected as much emotionally by them as in my youth. I think that youth is a magic time, not just for us aging hippies, but there is that goofy idealism that you can march down a street carrying a sign, and then, somehow magically, the wars will all end. Since then, I have certainly made peace with such ideals, and realize this is a real world.

@ELGROOVER There was no alcohol sold, just soft drinks - plenty of pubs nearby, though. Robert Plant used to go. Simon Robert

Thank ELGROOVER for uploading this. I saw The Groundhogs at Frank Freemans Dancing Club (look it up on the web!) in circa 1970. A small club in Kidderminster. Capacity at a guess about 100. Cost about 25p. Sundays were when it all happened. Even Captain Beefheart appeard there. If only you could put the clock back.
