Signed to Pete Waterman & Warner Music record label PWL International (famous for Kylie Minogue, Steps, Rick Astley & many more), UK Indie Rock band 'Strange Nature' released their debut album World Song to high acclaim in 1993, with numerous national press plaudits including Sunday Mirror 'Best Album'. Performing on BBC Children in Need with Squeeze, Kirsty McColl, Tasmin Archer, & Voice of the Beehive, & regulars on Radio 1, Virgin, GLR & MTV, Strange Nature released two chart singles 'Incantation Man' & 'New Messiah', & toured the UK & Europe as both a headline act & support to bands such as Spin Doctors & Thunder amongst others.
'People' was recorded at Olympic Studios in Barnes (Guitars), Town House Studio London (Drums) and Marcus Studios in Fulham (Vocals). The track was written & performed by Strange Nature and produced by Steve Brown (George Michael, Manic Street Preachers and many more).
The drum kit was a Noble & Cooley Maple short stack 10", 12", 14", 16" toms & 22" bass drum with a Pearl 12" Maple Soprano. Cymbals were all Zildjian, 14" Quick beat hi hats, 20" Earth Ride, 16" & 17" Avedis crashes plus a 10" Avedis splash. All DW hardware including a 5000 bass drum pedal. The percussion was a mixture of fire extinguishers and glass ashtrays that we found in the studio (played with drumsticks).
Where are they now?
Imogen Andrews (Vocals) went on to form 'The Lights' releasing the album Grand Union. Andrews now performs as a solo artist and writes for other acts.
Gordon Mills (Rhythm Guitar) is now a music producer, writer and musician. Mills' credits include Razorlight, the Bluetones and Judie Tzuke amongst others.
Keith Tenniswood (Lead Guitar) formed Two Lone Swordsmen with dance music legend Andy Weatherall and performs as cult DJ Radioactive Man. Tenniswood also runs electro record label 'Control Tower'.
Jason O'Bryan (Bass Guitar) formed The Dub Pistols releasing 3 albums (the 3rd featuring the Specials' Terry Hall), tracks from which appear on numerous film soundtracks such as Blade II, Bad Company and Mystery Men plus video games including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Final Fight: Streetwise, NBA Live 08, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, FIFA 99, and Dance Revolution X on Playstation 2.
Justin Rabbetts (Drums) joined 3 Colours Red working on demo tracks for Pure, played with singer actor Russ Wilson & Kiss of the Gypsy guitarist Daz Rice in grunge band Beanjuice and toured Europe with rock legend Tyla and Dogs D'Amour.
