so people in here who says - faster is not better - basically says that gypsy jazz sux? django played even faster, and always with 16th notes everywhere, and he had a lot of beautiful melodies. If you mean that you need to have max 2 notes per bar, so dude jazz is not for you. in here is everything based on chord arpeggios. when they play theme itself, they play it "as-is" a lot of times, with less notes, when they improvise, they improvise around theme.. so what's your problem with that? it's definition of jazz!

As I was saying, playing a myriad of notes in two seconds do not mean better... listen to Beethoven's: "Claro de Luna" and you will see what I mean. I am not someone who knows anything about music. Only someone who feels music. Thank you.

to me music is about creating melodies and having fun. and thats where django succeeded. he not only created wonderful melodies but they were fun to listen to because they were almost like if they were sung by himself. todays players cant replicate that, they just play a bunch of random notes that sound good together, but you feel no emotion because the melodies arent there. to me at least. some people will probably be angry about this and thats fine. its my opinion.

Does it have to? I personally can do without the violin on the Django Reinhardt version.
