This is a holy grail when it comes to Stevie Ray Vaughan videos. This is Stevie and Double Trouble playing Alpine Valley on August 25th, 1990 (the first night). And as you all know he played one more show at Alpine Valley and after that show we lost Stevie. Yeah, the quality isn't all that great, yeah, you can't see the stage a lot of the time, but this is A MUST SEE if your a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. It doesn't get any better than this!! I uploaded these two songs since they are commercially available on the SRV box set. So a lot of you have heard it, now it's time to see it! Enjoy!!!!!!

Thanks for posting this. My girlfriend (now wife) were there with friends. Great show. Anyone remember the fog after? To this day, worst fog I've ever driven in.

yeah got the whole video myself in a trade some time ago, but it's very historic for the event and the man!

I was at his second to last show at Alpine Valley as well. That was the second time I had seen Vaughn live (first time was at New Orleans Jazz Fest) and the sixth time I had seen Clapton. What I recall was that was the best I had ever seen Clapton perform, perhaps because he stepped it up after hearing Vaughn. I actually liked Vaughn's show better in New Orleans, but that may be because the venue was smaller. But he was amazing at both shows. That is the closest I will ever get to seeing Hendrix, who in my mind is the best of the best. But Vaughn was a damn close second!

This Alpine show should have been made into DVD--like Eric's crossroad festivials

I was tenth row seats here... I remember him saying these things and between these songs he goes ... "and then there always some fool tryin' to take her away from ya ..and you go and say something like this." to continue what he was saying before Let me love you...

actually Jeff does not play a lap steel. his guitar is an all black fender Stratocaster with hot pink pickups. I've heard the recording of that performance and it sounded amazing. Jeff and Clapton really were fantastic on the Cream version of Crossroads! just wish I was born earlier and in Wisconsin to enjoy it all in person.

I was there that night. I will never forget it. When we left the fog was do dense we talked about how nasty it was as we watched choppers trying to fly through it. The next day after the concert on the 26th, he was gone. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he and all the holy souls in purgatory rest in peace. Amen

Loved seeing the video even though it was poor quality. Miss Stevie every day and so sad we lost so him so suddenly, He really seemed like a truly nice guy. Look forward to seeing him again someday. Until them he will forever be in my heart.

/watch?v=uu8EOAbZxY0 This is the Riviera Paradise "soundboard" recording. I've compared it to both nights at Alpine Valley and it's different. It's definitely a 1990 recording, but not Alpine Valley

I was there too. Even though it was Stevie's 2nd to last show, the 2 things that stood out from this show were the beautiful orchestrated version of "Layla" that opened Clapton's set & Jeff Healey running around the stage, blind as a bat with his lap steel during "Crossroads".

I was at this show. Robert Cray, Stevie & Clapton. Jeff Healey came out during "Crossroads". Amazing show.

I remember when they played this on the Chicago news saying he had one more show the next day---which was his last.

At least you have your youth. I'm nearly 62 and in the summer of 1975 I went down to Austin and found myself drinking some beers at this new place called Antone's and being totally blown away by this kid who was playing the blues like I had never heard them played before. I remember him doing "Have You Ever Loved a Woman", which I had heard many times from the Layla album, and thinking that it sounded like Eric and Duane were both up there playing at the same time. The greatest of all time.

Then you must have heard him through ya moms, um whatever it is. I believe he could go right in through the doors of your soul everytime the played.

I was there for this show. Cray opened. After Vaughan was Clapton. Incredibly (we didn't know it was in the plan), Clapton brought Jeff Healey out for the finale. That kid ran all over the stage wailing away. I'll just say that when Stevie got done the crowd was so loud with thunderous gratitude you couldn't hear the difference between clapping and shouting. It was so sublime, his playing. We could have left right then. But next Clapton did his set. What a show.

@csi2448 The so called "soundboard" happened on 8.25.1990 (the first night). The second night 8.26.1990 is a poor audience recording. Even credible sources say the 8.25 show is soundboard, but you can clearly hear someone say on the tape "are you making a bootleg of this?" and a guy answers "yeah, if you would stop talking and let me record it!". Anyway, I know the guy who is putting together that underground SRV album we've all heard about. Message me, and I'll keep you in the loop.
