I love both, really.But, yeah, when "The Incident" (last Porcupine Tree album in 2009) came out, it seemed like it was the end of something, at this time. Of course, there are brilliant parts and the main long piece is very good, but... I don't know... the sound & arrangements of many songs on it were a little bit "dry", tight, I could say - may be - "ouf of steam" compared to previous incredible PT releases...Actually, it's a treat to listen to those amazing "expanding kaleidoscopes" of styles and experiments (Prog - Jazz-rock and neo-psychedelic included) Wilson gives us since "Insurgentes".Ok, some parts of long Wilson's "solo" tracks are shadowy and sometimes disturbing (especially in "Grace for drowning" & "The raven... " , reactivating some sparks from old King Crimson / Yes / Van Der Graaf Generator / Soft Machine, etc... tortuous stuff), but it's been a real artistic achievement for Wilson, and even then he never let down his impressive song-writing & rock musician talents.The fact is that "Hand.Cannot.Erase." gathers quite every aspects of Wilson's wide musical creativity... including Blackfield's melancholic "Pop-rock", thundering or aerial Porcupine Tree's kind of riffs, electronic textures, even 70's "Rock/rhythm & blues" guitar chords...Once again - imprinted with a touching and intense narrative line - , Wilson has created a fucking masterpiece !!!! :)))
