This confirms something for me. The first nine seconds of the actual recording is 440; after that, it turns flat. It's not YOU at fault, it's the song itself. I've messaged Steve Miller himself to tell me the story behind that because it actually IS out of tune. Nice cover, guitarist.

nice, fyi you can get the backing track on guitarbackingtrack-dot-com (most are made by a program though, so they don't really sound genuine)
