It really bothers me that the religious right has become the public face of Christianity, and even left leaning media allows it. I am not Catholic, but as an example, coverage of Catholics always emphasizes abortion, not opposition to the death penalty, condemnation of the Iraq war as unjust or John Paul II's call for debt relief.

There are a great many Christians who work with the poor and against injustice - they just don't make the news like right wing conservatives. If you were willing to have a rational conversation with a few Christians rather than spewing gross generalizations and baiting, you might learn that. And statistics show that Christians of either party, and religious people in general, are much more likely to give to charity than non-religious people.
