Sonic Boom toured with the band around this time as well. I saw them at Gloucester Guildhall and was surprised to see a shadowy figure I recognised lurking by a theremin and bank of electronics to one side of the stage.I'd always felt the world would cotton on to the wonder of Stereolab eventually but this era was probably as close as they came to mainstream success. Bad timing. Britpop engulfed all and sundry and now they seem to be little more than a footnote in music history. Shame.
