The long-awaited better quality version of the unreleased classic outtake. Notice the lyric change when Donald Fagan sings "I hear there's a bash in Cameroon," as opposed to "New Orleans," as sung in the older version. There are also some directions to the sound engineer regarding the volume of his vocals. Enjoy!

As good or better than anything on Gaucho, and I love Gaucho. Easily my favourite non-released SD track.

Anyone else think that's Bernard Purdie doing the count off?

What does "Kulee Baba" mean?

For the personnel here, I'm guessing...Chuck Rainey on bass, Larry Carlton or Hugh McCracken on guitar, probably Fagen on keys, and Becker on heroin.

It took me too long until I heard, "Don't chew on that power cable, son!"I always heard it as, "Don't you want that power cable, son?"When I figured it out, I laughed out loud.

Months later and I'm still mad this didn't make the "Gaucho" cut.

Nice song indeed, and sounds like it could have fit on Two Against Nature... if it weren't for the nagging suspicion this was an early version of "Glamour Profession".

Sounds like it belongs on Nightfly.

Great song but this version sounds out of phase to me. The kick and bass don't sound right.

I believe I read SOMEwhere that Rick Marotta played drums on this ( and QUITE Fabulously, too, I might add!) Don't know about anyone else.Seems like it MIGHT be Chuck Rainey on bass.. but that is just a guess.. all great players, to be sure. Hard to believe this gem has never seen the light of day on an Official SD release.

+evelsteev I do know that it's Rick Marotta on drums, he said he played on this in an interview.

Hearing this for the first time and I am blown away. This has become one of my favorite SD songs. I can't believe they didn't release this. It seems like SD sometimes shelves a song but then uses chords or structure from it in a song that does end up being released, but this is a very unique song - I am not hearing it and going 'oh yeah .. this sounds just like XYZ". Thanks for sharing!

Damnit, they play in Kansas City tomorrow, and I don't have tickets. Anybody help a Dan Head out!

Thanks, I've had a lot of Dan fans who've responded to my question.

My understanding, gleaned from interviews of them, is that Becker tended to contribute more lyrically, but that either or both of them collaborated on lyric and body (music) ideas and development.
