My favorite band ever. I cried when I heard him sing live finally for the first time last year. As staind not just Aaron Lewis. This music helped me through many events in my life and seems no matter how I'm feeling I've been able to relate with each album as it comes. :)

Maynard is an incredible singer. By range, I don't mean octaves, I mean the range of what he can do with his voice. Aaron, imo, is not that great. His voice is *relatively* distinguishable, but it usually sounds the same way. Not to mention that I've seen both live, and I wouldn't say Aaron was awful, but it did show that a lot of his voice is just good studio production. Maynard is perfect live, even when screaming, and is also quite a dynamic performer. And imo, he's miles ahead lyrically.

Aaron is a great singer. He is unique and stands out because of this. Though Maynard is my favorite artist, I can't fully agree with your reasoning. Maynard is not known for his range. It is as simple as comparing him to Brandon from Incubus. Maynard's range isn't close. These talks are great because I love to hear how people label what they like about artists, but it isn't a matter of good and bad. Most technically amazing singers don't make it because they don't have a stand out sound.

I have to disagree with that last bit, sorry. Aaron is a good singer, his voice has a quality that, back when he was in a darker place, really let you feel his pain. But as far as range, he isn't in the same league as people like Elvis, Maynard James Keenan or others. And as far as genres, Staind's range isn't much more than "heavier or softer", esp compared to names like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Queen, etc, and considering how diverse the music world is for artists to explore.

Yeah i agree with that to an extent i was introduced to staind in 01 so i enjoy their melodic sound. i've recently fallen in love with the tormented album and dysfunction. i think what i enjoy about staind is the fact that they are not limited to just one genre. Aaron can sing damn near everything its quite amazing.

Because they lost the qualities that I admired in their music. 14 Shades of Grey was pretty good but not amazing, and after that they were never the same. I understand bands change, people mature, etc, but a lot of times, that is at the cost of what inspired them to greatness in the first place.

14 shades of grey is good but it doesn't have lots of good songs, only 4 or 5 The best albums are the first three! Tormented, Dysfunction and Break The Cycle

This is just a comment full of ignorance. Aaron Lewis and Staind in general have brilliant lyrics but the comparison of lyrical value of Tool and Staind can't even be made. They sing about completely different things. Since everything is perspective it doesn't really matter what I say. You can keep looking at life how you look at it, but try not to disrespect people in the process. It is a shameful act and shows immaturity.
