ive seen guitar players that play with "emotion" and people say that they are not good because they cant play faston the other hand they complain about shreders cause they lack emotion...they tend to compare st vincent with rock/metal virtuosos, and emotional guitarrists like gilmour but she does not play rock/metal and she is not trying to be a shreder or whatever, she probably loves playing guitar and she does it the way she knows (wich is a very original way that reminds me of tom morello, matt bellamy or jack white)i think she is really talented and nobody should give a fuck if she went to berkley just one year or two because most great musicians never studied.innovation imagination and originality is something they cant teach...

theres a cool little youtube show called Guitar Moves where the host sits down with great guitarists and has them show him little tricks, and he tries them out and its sort of instructional if you can follow. St. Vincent, or whatever her name is, is on this show, and her segment is pretty cool: apparently shes been playing guitar since she was a young child, and i'll tell ya, she's damn good. I suggest anyone interested in guitar see all the segments of that show, it is very edifying, as well as entertaining
