Why did Bowling For Soup change some lyrics? Especially in the 2nd verse, "Never knew George was gay / Hoped they'd hook up one day" totally sounds like such a BFS line!

I remember when my friend told me a couple of this huge pop stars songs were actually written by a local folk band around here, and I didn't believe him until he showed me on youtube. It was indie folk or something. And they sold it to a popstar and she turned into a pop song hit. That's the industry for you.

I think they're both similar but probably the reason that Bowling For Soup's version is more popular is because it has more energy to it. It's a ridiculous song and it deserves a ridiculous energy. I do still like this version, though.
