Spirogyra got formed in 1967 and released their first album in 1971, St. Radigunds. This song is from that album.

Their sound reminds of Comus' First Utterance, though less insane.

They were also from the Canterbury area (Caravan, Hatfield and the North, Soft Machine, Egg etc).

@asghanim That's the "something" Grove (I forgot what it is called...) A place where they revere the Bringer of Light (for the common man "Baphomet" or perhaps, even further downgraded, Satan). "They" referring to all kinds of businessmen, and if you were an Alex Jones fanatic you'd think they were all kinds of FreeMasons, Popes, Presidents, Kings, Queens, C.E.O.s et all. Anyway, a gathering place for initiated people.

@sweetpotatoefish Yes indeed, spirogyra is some sort of algae. But the band is not. ;) They algae is (according to wikipedia) usually called "pond scum"....

Yes he had Occult Knowledge. As did most musicians in that time. I've had a chat with Ian Bruce from Ultimate Spinach not so long ago about that stuff.
