I’m like 90% sure the reason he sounds kinda electronic is because of the synth backing his vocals. it’s on the same key as his voice and this happens pretty commonly with a lot of artists.

Honestly this version is incredible! It bugs me how much people are commenting about "auto tune" or whatever because it's clear it was used for artistic and stylistic choices and it sounds bomb! 100% did the original one justice :)
