Buying tee shirts and other merch is also another thing you can do that gives bands the most money for the product. They hardly see album sales but usually the majority of t-shirt sales goes to the band.

no you buy the album first its the artists profesional work then go chill at the concert to meet fans and discuss whats happening,thats how you support an artist,nothing better than a cd.

Catch22. If people wouldn't buy albums you would've NEVER heard of most of these bands! Because no label would sign them, let alone sponsor an album and promote it so it reaches YOU, unless the label thought they had commercial value. And forget live touring without album sales. Except rarely when the label is band-owned, but then you WOULD be supporting them by buying it. Or bands who can afford touring on their own and selling their recording on set, but then you should go see them AND buy it!
