Davey Havok was a better front man for Son of Sam.

they must remake this song with havok's vocals. the 2nd album is so frustrating because of the vocals... damn you havok v_v

the vocals aren't terrible, did a pretty decent job. though Havok would have annihilated this album. it's so frustrating sometimes >B/

@GUITARISTKRC I probably would enjoy it much more if I could dissassociate them from Samhain, but being that the original line up was half of Samhain (3/4 if you count Todd Youth) I always looked at SOS as companion band... The Sons of Samhain. But if you're not a huge Samhain fan, then you probably can appreciate it much more. I stlll love Songs from The Earth though. If Danzig sung on that album, it could have been Samhain IV. That was as close to Samhain as it gets.

@GUITARISTKRC I really love both Son of Sam albums. I think the band captures the fundamental traits of what makes Samhain enjoyable to listen to which is repetitive guitar riffs that are often dissonant, primal sounding drumbeats with that "jackhammer" style, occultic lyrics, and the overall darker tone thats found in just about every song. Davey does a good job with the higher register vocals and Skye Vaughan-Jayne does a good job with the mid range vocals.

@Funerism yeah if your a big samhain fan then i could see what you mean. personally i have always loved misfits and danzig, but was never much for samhain. to me, this is a totally new band than samhain or even their first ablum

@GUITARISTKRC If you like it, that's cool, but I disagree. I'm a huge Samhain fan and that first album totally nailed the Samhain sound. I understand maybe on this album they were trying to do something new, but the songs just seemed not as well written and I don't like the new singer's voice. Its not horrible, its just not a masterpiece like the first one.

@Funerism this is much better than the first album

@mudx0rz We do strongly disagree then. Go listen to Unholy Passion or November Coming Fire... You honestly believe that the songs/riffs on Into the Night are in the same league? No way. Not even close.

@Funerism i disagree, i remember i was at first a bit turned off by his vocals, but i gained a real apprciation for them being that most bands are trying to sing or scream really high or really low but Thorne has this strong midrange that i wouldnt compare to danzig or havoc at all. it almost like an evil lounge singer and although i dont like every single track on this album the one that i do like i feel very strongly about. the riffs arent any more or less inspired then old samhain to me

This was the only song i liked from this album. Just a big let down from Songs from the Earth. The vocals just sound like a second rate Danzig and even worse the riffs are uninspired and boring. Too bad, I'm a huge Samhain fan and this I had high hopes for this band.

@deathinquisition i know, i prolly think about both son of sam albums at least once a day. just such a deep understanding of horror rock and that nice space inbetween punk and metal
