I don't even think that man had a bottom to his range, or at least never showed it. In "When God's Chariot Comes" he joins the Goodmans and RIPS a Bb1 in mixed voice. That's the lowest I've heard Rex sing, but he could probably rival J.D. with G1s and such. I've steadily come to appreciate Rex's style: definitely singing low, but not to the point of tunelessness, a valuable lesson that is sadly unheeded by most bass singers today.

Rex's son Todd Nelon was and still is the Nelons bass guitarist, and a spitting image of his father. I believe he was featured once in a while as a baritone vocalist during Rex's lifetime.

i love to hear rex sing! i was sorry to hear about his passing but his daughter and her family are doing a good job keeping the group going.He has a son but i can't think who he sings with.R.I.P.rex you are still loved and missed by a lot of people.

i love to hear rex nelon sing! don't get me wrong j.d. was good but he always seemed like he had to put that slide on the end of the song and some songs just don't call for that.I was sad to hear he had passed away but his daughter and her family are doing a good job keeping the group going.He has a son but i can't remember who he sings with.There are several female artist who owe their start to him.R.I.P. rex you are missed by a lot of people!
