Could some enterprising young Splicer-Dicer fix the guitar booble at the 2:00 mark? I'll be your new bet friend! CW

WYND out of Sarasota was a day time station that had a just-before-sundown program titled "Head Start". 1968. First heard So-Lo there. Every week or two they would play "Ina Gadda...". When you hear a distant AM station play this, the Phasered drums in the drum solo really stand out. So...Yeah! Iron Butterfly on the radio! CW

I remember a high school friend who liked hard rock and roll saying the opening of this song sounded like IB trying to do "Frosty the snowman".

While they might suck they're basically the only ones staying true to their style. Everyone else is off trying to invent something new and failing or ending up selling out. This band did end up switching their style as well.

Yeah, it's funny how certain songs now seem to be banished from the collective minds of American media. In the book The Last Sultan they talk about how important this tune was in terms of putting Atlantic Records on the map. Made the label more of a white rockers label, and paved the way for Led Zep, than its original black r&b label.

Well, most of people these days don't even know for Iron Butterfly, so if you hear at least In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida on radio you're lucky

Recall coping onto a cut-out 12" slab of I.B.'s debut when I was 16 back in 76' from the local Goldblatt's retailer dept. store. What a lucky find! When i broght it home on e of my older brothers said in an excited reply to my anouncing my purchase, "wow, that;s an old I.B. album, play it now! And, I did. The rest is history. Just one of the greatest 60's psych albums from start to finish...and the last cut, I. B. Theme is a prelude to Gadda'da'vida...equally good in it's own right. Effing!!!
