"Lazy Sunday" released in 1968, was a Cockney music-hall style song released by Immediate against the band's wishes, it was written by Steve Marriott as a joke because he was always getting thrown out of his rented accommodation by neighbours complaining about the noise he made. The single reached number 2 in the British charts but the band continued to resent the fact that their sound was being represented by what they saw as a novelty single. Many years later "Lazy Sunday" was to inspire Blur's hit song "Parklife" in 1994.

In those days, there were a lot of clubs without drinks licences. When I was 16 I went to a Hawkwind gig at the Hull Brickhouse (a converted? warehouse). They only sold Milkshakes, but then we didn't go to get pissed!. And it wouldn't have had the atmosphere, with drunks there too. Never looked back since :-) Wish I could have seen this band though.12 years назад

On the video there's a flyer from the Faces gig at King Mojo club in Sheffield. The Mojo was owned by Peter Stringfellow and the club hosted many top acts such as The Who, Hendrix, The Kinks, Pink Floyd and Soul acts like Wilson Pickett and Ike n Tina Turner. This despite the club not having a drinks licence. The Small Faces played their first gig outside the London area here. Great track, great version, great band.16 years назад
