When Slade embarked upon their one and only movie in 1974, fans and critics alike were expecting something akin to a Glam rock update of The Beatles `A Hard Days Night, released a decade earlier. After all, in the dark days of a Britain beset by strikes, power cuts and a collective musical identity crisis, Slade were the ultimate good time band: irreverent, loud and armed with a terrific set of singalong stompers. Ever get the feeling that England's lost a little bit of its sense of fun? Maybe the greatest only music comes in bleak times.

# 2 - Slade - Them Kinda Monkeys Can't Swing - So underrated yet so much better than so many bands that came out at the same time, this is my all time favorite Slade song. Noddy Holder has an amazing and unique voice duplicated by no one. (This is from the movie Slade In Flame)

This is so good. Everything Rock n Roll should be. Exciting, fun and cool. With hot sexy girls dancing about. I bet the Slade boys had a lot of fun.

It is a shame but you can't blame them, America was the place to go and conquer.

Love how Noddy's slide guitar segues straight into Dave's riproaring solo! Bloody Ace!

Its a shame they went to America right at the height of their fame, tried hard to crack the U.S. market, came back to the U.K. only to find that less and less people were buying their records until their second wind in 1980-81.

@hotspanna Ta: Great to know some-one still loves one of my little babies - Do you have a photo of it? I'm on the look out for an early NED SG or Salisbury for myself, so if you ever think of selling it let me know. Peter Cook AKA Ned Callan

You wouldn't think it was just 25 years ago. I worked on this film, and when it was released me and 16 friends all went down to the local cinema, past smiling policeman, ticket kiosk girl and usher. We we rowdy, yes. Did we annoy a couple people at the cinema, probably. But we weren't arrested on the way to the cinema, stopped from going in the cinema or being thrown out of the cinema, like I feel 17 young people would be today in Great Britain.
