Great music. Not sure what Gianmaria means about "un-funky synthesized late 80's". Not certain what planet he was living on at that time or if he was even born yet. Prince, Herbie Hancock, Zapp and Roger, etc. going strong at that time. Many other groups/solo artists/bands were putting out funky music at that time. Yes, you CAN make funky music on a synthesizer. So I'm ???? by what he means. And to be honest I don't think "pure funk" is the right term for this song. It has some funky rhythm, and I love it, but it's really a great pop song. Sorry, I'm just tired of kids acting like they're experts aboutmusic from an era they hadn't even lived in. Anyways, great music, great artist. Bought his first Album on cassette and still have it.

I think you touched upon something. Let's consider where Simply Red (and, more specifically, MICK) was during that time period. His life had taken a 360 degree shift from just a decade ago, pre-Picture Book. To say that his disposition in this video was evidence of his complete satisfaction with his career is most probably an understatement. Nevertheless, I LOVE what his eyes say about what is he is experiencing at that moment. Also with you on the arrangement and performance extraordinaire!

After enjoying the performance, I too was taken with the look on Mick's face at 5:45. Is it confident relaxed joy? I love how this arrangement and performance surpasses the original studio version, IMHO.
