Without a doubt this is one of Waylon's signature songs.Obviously Shooter does it a bit differently than his father. But he still respects the song while he puts a bit of his own touch on it. I agree with a previous reviewer who said: "Waylon would be proud."Even though the part was small, I loved Shooter's portrayal of his father in "Walk the Line." ("That was last month 'we paid the phone bill.' This is this month.")

Waylon loved Shooter's version. Waylon specifically requested that Shooter play this song at this his funeral and I am quite sure that Shooter did his daddy proud. Shooter is quite an amazing musician in his own tight as well. I have seen him in concert and he is amazing!!

Have a little god damn respect! You can't easily compare anyone to Waylon! We're talking about maybe the greatest country singer of all time...

I asked him about getting the Stargunn stuff too, he didn't budge. I would love to have it. There are also some videos of him playing with G-N-R after Axle. I think he was offered that spot more than once.

I met Shooter a couple of years ago in Jacksonville, Fl. I told him I thought this was the best version of the song i had ever heard, and it is. I also told him that his version of Lonesome, On'ry & Mean was miles above anything I had ever heard. I loved his dad's music, I named my son Kristopher Waylon after his dad & Kris Kristofferson. You have to expect different styles but they are both great musicians. I love every cover Shooter has done, especially Bell of the Ball & Long Way From Home.

@Stargunn357 Stargunn was the shit! I wish their stuff was available on iTunes or even CD. I used to listen to their stuff on the MySpace page, but I think it's gone now.

Obviously Waylon loved Shooter's version of this song since Waylon wanted Shooter to play this at Waylon's funeral.

this is Shooter's band before The .357's were ever thought of, this is actually Shooter in a band named Stargunn, did some research on the band and they played shows where audience members would drink band members piss out of a cup on stage during the show, read that on Shooter's website right around when The Wolf came out
