Walking the streets of Thomastown was always fun in and around Lalor haha my cousins were all into the Sharpie thing part of the Thomastown sharps .. Melbourne what a place..seems to set all the Aussie trends doesnt it. I grew up down in Sale but lived up in Thomastown / Lalor went to the primary school near the Plaza and the Thomastown primary for about a week.. this is great to watch haha love it

These are the type of girls who bullied at school. The ones with the attitudes and bitchy faces. They hated the wogs. Not all the sharpies were like that some were easy going and lovely girls. One things for sure the nasty ones and their bitchy faces even as they get older dont change.

Lobby Lloyd and the coloured balls, remember the album well..Also remember seeing AC/DC first time of many @ the Chelsea Town Hall, Lobby Lloyd was support as was Buster Brown, for those that don,t know Buster Brown was Angry Anderson pre Rose tattoo nothing scary about the sharpies back then, when told to pull their heads they normally did...Great Days...

I am not Australian, but I became fascinated by Sharpies and their culture especially the way they danced - it kind of reminds me of how Popeye the Sailor man danced in cartoons - like an old sailor kind of dance and Australia being populated by many sailors I wondered if this dance here was a hold over from that kind of dancing or it could have been home grown out of thin air. Australia back them was still kind of isolated but not totally (I assume). I can watch them dancing for days. Fascinating.

reply to your narrow minded comment - among the Sharpies featured in this clip there are teachers,nurses,soldiers,firemen, musicians, actors, business owners,many tradesmen,sports therapists,SES, social welfare officers & even police and prison guards. Very few Sharpies were unemployed, many were apprentices and many are well educated. The majority became Sharpies for the fashion, music and camaraderie, an extended family. True, some were criminals, but that % would be the same in general public

Funny thing is : The Left : them when they lived to impress everyone by thinking they were tough as insecure teens. The Right : ( in most cases lol ) .. Grown up, more content, more common sense, and still remain at an age where they could smack the be'jesus out of themselves if they had to fight themselves on the LEFT .. even if they were more flexible back then than now :P

Got a laugh out of this remembering the harry high pants and stripped cardigans as I grew up in the 70's and had a few run inn’s with the Sharps at Kew club and Flinders street but survived like them to became a old bugger. Good stuff brings back memories.
