Is the alphabet skit on YouTube? That one would also be great to see again. I,too, like MIKECNW, remember the alphabet one better than the numbers one--I do VAGUELY recall seeing this, though, perhaps once or twice. Both the ABC one and this one, numbers 1-10, are on this Sesame Street record, Letters and Numbers, that I got almost 39 years ago, to be exact, for my SIXTH BIRTHDAY(April 1975, to be exact!) I still have it, to this day; hey, LPs ARE quite the collectors' items, in today's world, PLUS, being one of the first generation SS viewers(I'm as old as the show itself, born in 1969), naturally, I remember most of these early classics! There are some differences, however, in both songs on this record--Matt Robinson did not voice Roosevelt, for either song, there. ANd YES, that is Loretta Long(Susan)voicing Mrs. Franklin. And, YES, I do know, that Matt was the ORIGINAL Gordon--I have a DVD, of the premiere episode, which came enclosed in this huge book, written five years ago, for the show's 40th anniversary. ANd I have watched the DVD, MANY TIMES!! Strange, but Matt(Robinson)who originally played Gordon, and Roscoe Oerman, do sound somewhat alike(their voices.)

Wait, I thought Roosevelt was the teacher, and for some reason the school was named after him? Why is he a child in this one? Also, why does he sound like Chris Rock when he's a teacher and Barry White when he's apparently two years old?

I can see why Roosevelt Franklin may have been controversial in the early years. I guess they figured he was too "hip" and were worried he would've been a "stereotype" of the time. If they showed these today I don't think these would be as offensive as the Uncle Remus stuff or even all those old blackface sketches. I've always liked how Roosevelt Franklin's voice kept changing when Matt Robinson voiced him

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet: this segment was the very first one to feature Roosevelt Franklin. No wonder his voice kept changing!

Compared to the alphabet song, his speaking voice is a lot higher, but his singing voice is still pretty deep.
