my father is 86 years young,he was a police officer for 38 years ,i too ran that career i made it twenty seven years,my dad now has the startings of alzheimers, and he is still good,but its sad to see what he he is going through ,i love him very much and really proud of him ,its just hard to see this man who did it all .and now he is still strong but he afraid of what he will become ,we stand by him and pray that he is with us for a long time ,people enjoy your dad and mom while they are here because when they are gone its to late

I was adopted at birth in 1963 in Montana. My adoptive father "Dad" passed from cancer when I was 7. I found/met my biological father 2 years ago when I was 50. (as well as a sister who is 13 months younger and was also put up for adoption, 1 half sister and 2 half brothers) Bio dad was 67. You do the math. lol Bio mom is still embarrassed I guess and wants nothing to do with me or my sister. I don't begrudge her for this. It was a different time. My wife keeps saying "it is unbelievable how much you two are alike". Our mannerisms, the way we talk and think. She says that she is seeing my father in me. We have a relationship now and I enjoy the time I get to spend with him since moving home to Montana. I am proud to call him my father. Oh ya, one more thing, thank God for adoption!!! I appreciate it!

@ bobba fett, What an awesome thing to say about your Dad, your Dad sounds a lot like my Dad he was all about the family too, my Dad worked six days a week as a mechanic and sunday was family day, he took me hunting and fishing every chance he could. Dad and I haven't been seeing eye to eye for the past fifteen years now due to alcohol but as I am writing this he has quit now for six weeks, the longest he's ever gone, mom says he's a changed man for the better and its been a long time coming, my wife and I are going for dinner tonight, first time since he quit, it will be nice to see the Dad I knew. Love you Dad.
