This song reminds me a lot of this short story I had to read in jr. high. People lived underground in Venus, where it rained constantly. It focused on this grade school classroom that was learning about the sun (because it never came out) in preparation for it finally deciding to show it's god damn face in 7 or so years. Only one kid in that room had actually seen the sun (once, when they were like four) and was bullied mercilessly because of the other children's jealousy. They end up locking her in a closet while running out to enjoy the sun for a couple hours. Only when the rain starts to return and the children head inside to let the girl out do they realize that what they did was pretty shitty. The paper we had to wright was how we'd punish the kids; somebody suggested feeding them to lions. Jr. high was a weird time.
