Scrapper does a nice job here. The earliest version I heard of this was the powerful Bessie Smith take on it. Chad Mitchell Trio had a version, too. I myself was playing it before I ever heard Clapton. I get tired of the criticism of EC. Clapton wasn't always a millionaire. He started out as a kid that loved blues and he has played them well, then and now. He has always credited his sources in a way that most blues musicians don't. I suspect that envy, orthodoxy and racism play a part in the criticism. I also suspect that most of his critics, if they can play at all, cannot play at anywhere near his level. I find it foolish and sad. Maybe someone should compose a song "Nobody Likes You When You're Rich" ;)
