"Round Midnight" is a 1944 jazz standard by pianist Thelonious Monk. It is thought that Monk originally composed the song sometime in 1940 or 1941. However, Harry Colomby claims that Monk may have written an early version around 1936 (at the age of 19) with the title "Grand Finale". "'Round Midnight" is the most-recorded jazz standard composed by a jazz musician.

Sarah's accompanied by Gerald Wilson (arr.); Milt Turner (drums); Ernie Freeman (organ); Teddy Edwards (tenor sax.); and Carmell Jones (trumpet). Recorded in Los Angeles, California, May 29, 1963. (Roulette Records)

Supper time, I'm sad... then really gets bad

Memories always start after sundown

It begins to tell round midnite, round midnite

I do pretty well til after sundown

Supper time Im feeling sad

but it really gets bad round midnite

Memories always start round midnite, round midnite

Haven't got the heart to stand those memories

when my heart is still with you

and old midnite knows it too

When some quarrel we had needs mending

does it mean that our love is ending?

Darling I need you

Lately I find you're out of my arms

and out of my mind

Let our love take win

some midnite round midnite

Let the Angels sing for your returning

Let our love be safe and sound

When old midnite comes around

Just let our love take win

and let the Angels sing your returning

Please let our love be safe and sound

When old midnite comes around

Midnite

There's a reason why Sarah Vaughan was one of Amy Winehouse's favorite female vocalists. So amazing.

I am sorry I don't know how to upload, and have not gone in the studio yet to record the song I have sung since age 13. It is I LOVED HIM (but he didn't love me) From Wake Up and Dream. There is no sheet music available for the song. But Sarah sang it on her 1956 album Sarah Sings Broadway: Great Songs from Hit shows. Hal Moody orchestra played on that song track behind her. I have it and can send the link on an email as I did to my piano player who thought it beeautiful. Blessings, Janie Martin
