イプセンの戯曲『ペール・ギュント』の中で歌われた曲。結婚するなり一獲千金の野望に駆られて家を飛び出して外国に行って年老いて一文無しになって帰って来たペールを、年老いたソルヴェイグは一言も責める事なく「お帰りなさい」と笑顔で迎え入れる。ソルヴェイグのような女性は実在しないだろうけど、実在したら素晴らしい。実在して欲しいと思う。そしてソルヴェイグの心のように美しいこの歌が大好き。サラ・ブライトマンはクラシック畑の人では無いのにこの歌を完璧に歌っている。今は宇宙飛行士を目指しているようだけど頑張れ。

Pani Květina Krčmářová ju tiež spieva v českom jazyku, ale nahrávka je asi veľmi stará a dosť nezrozumiteľná.
