Fairchasehunter, the song was originally written in Gaelic by Mary M. McDonald, and translated into English by Lachlan McBean. He published it in "Songs and Hymns of the Gael" in 1888. The music is titled Bunessan from Bun Easson, the Gaelic name of a town in Scotland, on the island of Mull, just west of Scotland proper. Cat Stevens used the melody in "Morning has Broken" much later.

It is an old Scottish Hymn which Cat Stevens stole.

Could someone tell me what language this song is sung in? I don't know it, nor do I need to. Sarah sings it beautifully!

Thank you for sharing. One of the best version I came across. I like it very much.
