I know i'm not the only person who heard this in a grocery store and thought she said "Baby I can't feed you!" I felt bad for the both of them in the song....

Every place I shopped this song always played at every supermarket and I have to admit Sam has that distinctive sound of Shawn Colvin and each time I heard this I always had a notion it was singer Shawn Colvin and to my surprise it was this singer Sam Phillips...a very wonderful near mid 90's track

She wrote this song for obese drug addicted gas bag known as Rush Limbaugh. Sadly this song still applies because that mad man is still on the air spreading hate.

It was made in 1994 too.. So even that makes little sense as its the Clinton 90's.

I was referring to the then-topical images of Oliver North and Jerry Falwell which dates this as a very '80s production. Besides that, what does this song have to do with government surveillance and the Iran-Contra scandal? Great song, but the director went a tad overboard on the political message stuff.

its hardly dated.. the fear mongering of the right is still very much alive and well in 2013

I grew up int he 80's when "Christian" music was basically just getting started. Folks like Phil Keaggy,Petra, esurrection Band and Leslie Phillips were all new then. The music was about redemption and really heart felt words of love to Jesus. Being burned is nothing to new to Believer. It is sad to see Leslie Phillips writting songs like this. To those who only know Sam I say Sorry. But early Christian music was amazing. Every time it rains by Rez or As warm as tears by Phil created worship

This song appeared in one scene in Melrose Place season 3 with Sidney choosing this song in a jukebox in Shooters before Janes's boyfriend tried to rape her. I love the entire Melrose Place the album

From 18 years ago, yet it sounds like it came out yesterday. Heard this on the radio and thought it was a new song. Clearly, Sam and I have some catching up to do. Also a great video, although the topical media imagery is now dated.

Outstanding track - and it sounds just like I heard it on WFMU recently. she is an underrated talent. Interesting possible segue: into the Beatles' "Within You, Without You." (Wish I was still on the radio - I'd do that one on the air....)

@JRRjrrr - Thanks, I stand corrected. I noticed Jerry Falwell in the rather strange video, but missed Rush. I Googled to find out more, but only saw where she'd dedicated to Limbaugh (no mention of it as "political" per se, but that is Rush's bread-and-butter, and with the C.S. Lewis quote at the end it makes sense in connection).

@JRRjrrr -- Ooohh, why such a "Grumpy Gus"? As a recording artist, she's been getting critical raves since she changed to "Sam"...and as far has having "no audience at all" -- YOU'RE her audience, someone looking (and successfully finding) her music & videos -- ain't that just so "ironical"?

@CH3CH2OH4U -- Learn something about digital audio, file conversion, the Internet, and codecs, and then you can start discussing the subject of audio fidelity intelligently. For your enlightenment, T-Bone happened to produce Sam's previous 3 releases (please re-read your sentence regarding that -- it made no sense); he wasn't just "selected". Sorry to hear you're having a bad day...

@edinasee You posted this video on your crappy laptop. I have my own stereo speakers. You didn't notice that this video version reduced the drums and horns to the backround, while promoting the vocals only. The beauty of this song is the production of combininig both. T-Bone Burnett was selected for his production Grammy nomination because of his studio work in production of this. Everyone should hear the Audio production of this song, not the tin horn copy of this upload. Congratulations!
