This song has been recorded by many an artist, all have their own singing style and feel for the song. Arrangements differ, vocals differ, singing style differs, the music, the tempo all differ. These versions cannot be compared to each other for these very reasons. Either you like a certain artists style or arrangement or not, each to their own, but please don't carry on with a load of rubbish about other great artists in their own right.

I love Elvis (and Mahalia, too); but this version with a 20 year old Sam Cooke presented in his first major recording is just incandescent. Paul Foster is simply brilliant here - he sounds like he instinctively knew he was beginning a very rare and extraordinary combination with the greatest soul singer of all time. The joy in Paul's voice says everything.
