When my wife and I moved to Austin in 1982, I went to this concert on the Texas campus. The manager/producer of ACL told me Orbison was a difficult guest, but he brought the house down with his pure talent. Like Bruce Springsteen said, "No one can sing like Roy Orbison" and even Elvis said that Orbison is the greatest singer the world has even known. I agree.

Actually he wore them because he forgot his regular prescription glasses one time and had to go on stage at night wearing his prescription sunglasses, and the look just stuck.

Ropy Orbison was NOT blind. The reason he wore sunglasses was this: On his way to an early concert, he left his normal glasses on the plane. All he had was his prescription sunglasses as a backup. He wore them and they became his trademark by chance. He just stuck with it.
