A bit of trivia that might win you a beer sometime. The actual title of this song is just plain "G. T. O." Most think it is "Little G.T.O.", but that is not the case.

Those "little" GTO's still were bigger than an average big European country... An average "big" US car was almost as big as the little aircraft carrier of the Dutch Navy in those days... Well, more or less... Or at least as big as a Belgian bus !

Ya well, 3 deuces 4 speed 389.....GOAT! Famous in song and story. Factory '65 Goat was a loser to my '56 Ford. OK my 312 ford wasn't near stock. Y block T bird 312 motor. Bored and stroked to 352.....Isky cam, Mallory dual point distributor.......Modified to the max at about the same time. Except My modified Ford made 415 HP at 6,000 rpm to the rear wheels on a dynomometer.Yep, that goat was fast. Off the showroom it cost $3,200. 130 mph had the goat, My Ford did 154 mph. I had about $3,000 in my Ford. Goat did 12 sec quarter mile.....My Ford did 10.4 sec quarter mile. Sing the song......3 deuces and a 4 speed and a 389...LOST to a built 10 yr old Ford with A modified single 4BBl , 3 speed on the tree, old ford. Same still goes today. Some stock cars just Rock! Some so called muscle cars hadit and some didn't. My '71 Chevy PU truck could amaze some wanna be fast people. It was a one ton on 4 tires. Hi Pro 350 4 bolt main bearing engine, 194 cast iron heads, Hot enuf off the showroom at 275 HP. 4 speed granny low trany but I messed with it a little, did a cam and double spring valves and a nasty 800CFM Carter carb on toppa a Edlebrock street eliminator intake manifold. POOF! 325+ hp now. Killer truck. Sleeper, andu race me with yer camaro or mustang or hemi dodge and U lose. Just another slightly modified nasty runner that would amasze stock muscle car owners. Doya get it yet? I owned a factory stock fast car once. It was GREAT! 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88. 2 door hardtop, bought it 6 yrs old, needed brakes, but was still fast. Speedo was marked to 135mph and I buried it on my test drive.......scared the car salesman to death because he knew the brakes were shot. I bought it. Big old squarw boat. Hood and trunk lid U could play ping pong on, 394 Olds Nailhead V8, 350+ HP, 4 speed hydramatic tranny, positrack rear axle, U think it's slow, mom and pop car? think again! Damn thing would outrun new corvettes over the cascade passes in Oregon. Mtn roads are no stranger to me. I own and love to drive an old '78 Toyota Celica. 20 R 4 cyl 5 speed hatchback. A whole 96 HP bone stock. Kicks ass on a crooked road, ifya know how to shift and drive.......Don't blame me I just graduated a driving school years ago in '69. Sorry yer new T bird won't keep up. Doya get where I'm going here yet? U getting a driving lesson? U got a clue how to drive a 400 HP goat? I don't think so. Few ever did know how. That's why goat owners paid me $100 when they lost the race. 1/4 mile drag or 100 mile road race, they lost. Maybe they were properly embarrased, but they paid me. The Dodge Hemis in the '60's were harder to beat than the stock GM or Ford muscle cars but they were all slower than my built Y block '56 Ford. Seems like HP don't get newer.

They were good cars 389 3 duces 4 speed, great power. I took one in a race back in fall of 1966, had a "59" T-bird 390 police intercepter auto trans, he wanted to go pinks I said I didn't want a G T O , there was $1500 on the line, two out of 3 runs, I took the first and third blew his doors off. Goats were good just have to know who you are racing against.

I had one of the few 1964 Plym Sport Fury's with the 426 cu in Wedge Head, dynamo rated at 425 hp, had cast iron headers, sure grip rear, dual quads, Mallory ignition, and exhaust dumps under the doors. Turned low 12's in the 1/4..... survived on a steady diet of Goat meat !!!

I have a 1967 AMC Ambassador 880 2 door fastroof in my back yard that looks every bit as good as a 67 Goat. 4" taller, 2 " shorter. Same body style to a T.
