$20,000 for this acoustic piano? Not trying to be funny but I just saw a damn good 1988Baldwin SD10 for $18000. I would never pay this much for a digital instrument. There are pluses. You can control the volume and practice anytime you want. But there are still subtle nuances in an acoustic piano that can't yet be reproduced on a digital. I will say that this is a damn good digital. I just can see the logic in paying $20,000 for it....

Adrian, it sounds as if you do not grasp the fact that the V-Piano is NOT a digitally sampled piano. I've played sampled pianos, and even the best of the lot is somewhat disappointing when compared with the V-Piano. My only gripe about the V-Piano is that the stage piano version is subject to the annoying problem of "pedal creep" (since the sustain pedal is not anchored to the body of the instrument). The V-Piano Grand solves that problem. Too bad it costs so much!

The overhead shot with the trombone in view is quite strange in terms of this video being a promotion piece. Ditto the photographer being in view near stage.

You will be surprised how this world is changed. People still complaining the digital is no better than analog such as photo graphics. Since based on your theory all digital image was also simulated natural light and created by RGB instead of real light. But you see Kodak was bankrupted. I am not say the digital piano is better than real piano. But I can see in the future, the digital piano will be better than most acoustic piano in the future.

A digital piano sounds like a recording of an acoustic piano. It is only when listening or playing live that you can tell the difference between both kinds of piano because the sound of an acoustic piano is more natural or realistic. But the touch of a good quality digital piano (e.g a Yamaha Avant) is exactly the same as in a concert grand. And the great advantage of a digital piano is that you can play it silently using headphones without disturbing your family or neighbors, say at midnight.

A digital piano obviously cannot compare with a $500,000 Steinway or Fazioli concert grand, but is immensely superior to any upright acoustic piano. The upright piano is the worst musical instrument ever invented, it´s even bad for practicing. And a good digital piano faithfully captures te resonance, harmonics, nuances, sound and action of a high-quality concert grand. The Yamaha Avant digital piano even reproduces the reverberation of an acoustic concert grand.
