I heard Rod talk @ this song; it was @ his first sexual experience, he was a teen-ager & she was an older woman in her 30's. All he said that he remembers @ her was that she was a bigger woman & she taught him everything he needed to know.

He was never better than when he was with the faces. Always seemed to have a laugh and seriously good musicians. Loved John Peel pretending to play the Mandoln. Lol.

The drummer looks like Lennon without his glasses on....

The real interesting thing is that this video is half dubbed, half live. I've never seen that before. Stewart vocal is definitely live, but the backing music isn't - witnessing the drummer not making contact and Ron Wood and the bass player messing around and doing anything but playing, (and that bass riff is far too involved to be anything but a studio piece.

I saw Rod Stewart for the first time on July 10, 1988 at The Scope in Norfolk, VA.

Why is it Rod has managed to convince people he is Scottish?! He is a Londoner with a London accent and one parent from Scotland!

Absolutely effffffinnng fantastic. Love the Vinten pan, tilt and 'rock 'n roll' head on the camera ped. Standard stuff for Faces' visuals at the BBC. Along with solarising of course. Great stuff. Thanks for the post.

Great video! ~~ So this is where the ol' 'soccer-ball thing' started (saw Rod in '77?, time of "Hot Legs"...).  It's so nice to see 'the boys' still united and intact (or if at least for appearances...);  but wondering who's the fifth guy sitting, miming the ol' mandolin in his lap?   Anyone?... ~~ ;-)

This song totally dominated the airwaves in the Fall of '71. It was everywhere. The sound of the song went well with the Autumn season, too.

The Beatles first recorded this for Let It Be, but Phil Spector cut it when Ringo wanted full publishing rights for writing it ( he was Rod Stewarts neighbor and gave it to him to record with The Faces ).
