Shared a beer with him backstage after one of his sets at the 1975 New Orleans Blues and Heritage Festival. Spine tingling performance and a lovely man - very gentle and generous - swapped many stories. A never forgotten time.

This is a part of the documentary "En remontant le Mississippi". It is a 1973 French production by the Greek director Roviros (Robert) Manthoulis. It's extremely rare but i have it. If you want it let me know. Roviros Manthoulis was self-exailed in France during the years of the Greek Dictatorship. He was an active communist with vigorous activity during Greek Resistance WWII and the subsequent civil war. His works wasn't officially supported by the Greek state due to his political views.

Amazing performance. This is from the documentary "Out of the Blacks and Into the Blues vol. I: Along the Old Man River." Williams also performs "Scrap Iron Blues" in the film which lupine22 has also posted. kudos. No DVD [yet?] of this doc but plenty of new & used VHS copies out there. Other performers who are shown in this 52 min. film are Bukka White, Furry Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes, Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry.

This clip and Scrap Iron Blues are from a German documentary called Out of the Blues and Into the Blacks. It was put out on 2 VHS tapes by Yazoo in 1995. Out of print. Never made it to DVD. Glad to see this up here. The segment with Robert Pete is some of the most magical video I've seen. I don't think there's much more or any more of him in the film. Its all good though...

Cooljack, there are plenty. They just aint famous or got filmed. This video is wonderful. The vocals and expressiveness is wonderful. The blues is raw as if it was created on the spot. Watching him makes my heart sore for the ones I've known and passed away. I'm not real familiar with this guy but what I see is wonderful, raw and real!!! Makes me homesick and happy all at the same time.
