Robert Lockwood, Jr.: 3/27/1915- Delta blues guitarist who was known for his tutelage under Robert Johnson and for the skills he showcased upon his iconic twelve-string guitar. With a firm grip on not only the guitar but also the piano, by the age of fifteen he had already begun to play professionally. Over the years he worked and collaborated with the likes of B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, and extensively with Sonny Boy Williamson II. He took home his first Grammy Award in 2004 for his performance on Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas, which saw him perform with fellow legends Pinetop Perkins, Henry Townsend, and Honeyboy Edwards.

Brother I sat with Mr. Lockwood on many occasions and he told me stories that no interviewer would ever hear. He was a fine gentleman and great story teller. He even played my old Gibson on air when he was doing an interview at WCPN on Blues with the Fitz back around 2002 or so. It was an honor to know him.
