Happy Birthday David Spencer, better known as *Ricky Valance* (1939.)He became the first Welshman to reach the top spot in the U.K. due to airplay on Radio Luxembourg. The BBC refused to play teenage tragedy songs.#dapimusic #mymusichangout #popmusic #RickyValance #singer #bornonthisday #bornonthisdate #coversong #RayPeterson

Why did Tommy keep saying "Bom-bom-bom-bom" when he was about to die?

A very sad song :'(

Tommy sure manages to say a lot in his dying breath. Valance can't even badly-lip-sync all of that in one breath. Tommy's not-breathing like a boss!

Yes. It also had the honour of going straight onto the "banned" list of the BBC in 1960, even though it got to no.1.

@stewartutd The song and recording are from 1960, Ricky is just miming to his old song. If the video was from 1960 then he would have been bloody old... lol

Excelente aporte. This song sounded in Latinamerica in the 60's years, specially in Colombia but in its spanish version by mexican singer Cesar Costa like "La historia de Tommy". Thank you to share this videoclip.
