The band did not die in a crash. They died in an onboard fire. They were gone before the aircraft touched ground. Both pilots survived, but were badly injured. Just sayin'.

Probably most underrated performer in my lifetime so sad he left us too soon I'am 65 and grew up watching the TV show what a shame younger people don't have family nights like that anymore but times like that made me a better person l guess I'am a very lucky man ! Thanks Rick

You are correct, the plane DID NOT CRASH, After smoke filled the cabin, the plane managed an emergency landing and the pilot and co-pilot escaped. When they found Rick, he was apparently attempting to shield his fiance from the smoke and flames. That's how they found him. Seven of the nine passengers (members of the Stone Canyon Band) were killed. There was NO drugs involved! Later, it was determined that a broken fuel line caused the fire.
