He warmed up the crowd at Woodstock and was worried about a beer bottle getting thrown at him . It didn't happen . He was the perfect person to open up the festival. and he has always done good interpretations of classic songs.

First time I saw Havens was from Woodstock footage,as most of us...and,I thought at the time,what an original performer!!I have since discovered a truly amazing kindred spirit,not only in the way he performed,but, in the way he conducted himself in ALL matters;he re-invented the way we look at composition.I know generations to come will hear songs in a different way..Travel well friend!! LUV.

RIP Richie Havens. Had the chance to perform a few years back in Maine. :D He was amazing and my mom say him do his most famous song at "Woodstock" in '69.
