I knew the Hollies version (from my older brother... my much older brother) and didn't really give the song a hard look until Dave's version with Glass Moon. We did this version in my band during the 80's. Although I played the piano part on a Yamaha CP-70B not on a synth. Love your vocal, very English.Quick production question: did your drummer play to a click while tracking?I also find it incredibly charming that the man who created this awesome cover has actually posted a few comments here (kudos' Mr. Adams) and only a few posts seems to have mentioned that. Thanks for letting us know how it came about Dave, I'll go and get the digital versions so I can put my vinyl away.~JT

Dave Adams... I love what you did with this song. I have been a Hollies fan since I was a boy. The original version of On A Carousel is one of my absolute favorites, and I can't imagine it played any other way in my head. Your version, although the same song, has a totally different energy and feel to it. When I try to compare the two side by side, I can't do it. In my head they are essentially different songs that can only be performed either your way, or the Hollies way. I love them both equally and seperately for what they are. Thank you for your version... I still have it on 45 rpm vinyl from my days as a DJ at our High School radio station KEPO in Eagle Point, Oregon. Played the fool out of it back then, recorded it to digital for now-a-days-play so that I can preserve my 45. I hope all is weel with you and yours, and again, thank you for the great music!

I do not remember the Hollies version HOWEVER I do remember this one! 8th grade summer and I loved it! 80's!!

I got here from googleing "Killer at 25" which just popped into my head out of the blue. Always loved that song, but I didn't recall the band. This is a great cover - better than the Hollies arrangement, IMO. For me, however the incomparable vocals of Graham Nash tip the scales to the Hollies. Thanks for posting this.

To those of you who prefer the Hollies version...I recognized it as a great song but it was so good that I wanted to take to a different place...I couldn't compete with the Hollies version so I sang it around the house for days and came up with my version..but I totally love the Hollies..especially when the had Graham Nash...that's all

The original is much better. The Hollies wrote this great song and performed it with incredible, powerful 3-part harmony. Vocally, they were one of the best live bands ever in the history of rock. This version is OK, but it mainly profits from the much newer technology of the 1980's vs. the 1960's. Much clearer sound, which is the only reason to believe this one is better. Dave Addams himself (lead singer) would agree. I've known him for 40 years.

This song sounded AMAZING on the local prog-rock station back in '82. They played it like it was Top 5, not Top Forty. It should've blown up much bigger than it did.

I've known the Hollies since the 60's but first heard the cover version of Carousel. Searching for this song I come up with the Hollies original version but still preferred this cover.
