I imagine that he was calling Mimi. The disconnected number makes sense since she left for rehab/hospital (depending on the version) and then went missing to set up for the finale.

I think it would have been effective to put this song before what you own, then have Mark enter singing what you own.. either way, this song should have been kept, it's brilliant.. my favorite song from the 1994..

Wow... I really like this song. What I think they should have done is keep this song AND what you own. Sorta. Like when Mark is singing his part of what you own in New York, Roger could be like on the other side of the stage singing open road, until he decides to come back to NY. idk, just a thought. btw What You Own is my favorite Rent song. =]

Hmm this is quite pretty but I prefer 'what you own' a lot better - it sort of puts some power back into the show again after a section of slow songs! Rent is amazing!
