I believe (and I think I read it somewhere) this song is about the relationship between AK and JF when he returned. It's about embracing and forgiving, that uncondiotional love we feel for the people close to us, no matter what happened or is happening. So this song is about the relationship between Frusciante and Anthony? They honestly formed the core of this band. Frusciante's a musical genius with amazing chord progressions and melodies, and Anthony's a great song writer and lyricist. They have opposite personalities: Frusciante introverted and Anthony extroverted. But I think they creatively complemented each other.
