es difícil de creer que de una improvisada actuación pueda nacer todo un género... pero así sucedió, y fue gracias al gran *Ray Charles*... por lo visto estaba actuando en un club nocturno y ya había acabado su repertorio, pero el público le pedía más... así que, sin pensarlo mucho, Ray pidió a la banda que le acompañaba y a las chicas del coro que le siguieran y repitieran todo lo que él dijera... así nació este tema, como un montón de estrofas sueltas e improvisadas, y a partir de ahí cuentan las leyendas que nació el 'soul'... aquí tenéis a *Ray Charles* y esta joya del 59, *'What I say'* (así fue como la tituló el propio Ray, y eso es lo que dice en el estribillo, aunque el tema se conoce como 'What'd I say')y paso el testigo a +Jason Oviedo para que no perdamos el ritmo cincuentero, ¿aceptas amigo?

On this day in 1965 {May 19th} Ray Charles performed "What'd I Say"* on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!"...Six years earlier on July 6th, 1959 "What'd I Say" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #82; six weeks later on August 17th, 1959 it would peak at #6 {for 3 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for 15 weeks...Two weeks before peaking at #6 on the Top 100 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart; it was the fifth of his twelve #1 records on the R&B Singles chart......It also peaked at #6 {for 1 week} on Cashbox's Singles chart...* "What'd I Say" was performed during the closing credits with back-up vocals provided by the Righteous Bros. and the Blossoms...
